Does it work with a photo or a recording of my face?

Because we use your device’s biometric ID to log in and open the app we prove that you are a live person – this technology can not be spoofed with a photo or video. The Facial recognition we use within messaging is the YEO facial recognition technology which is very hard to use with a photo or recording of your face.

We pledge to continually add features that ensure that face recognition remains state of the art. However, like most biometric systems there is always the possibility of a breach. While we believe YEO provides unequalled security and privacy we are also realistic and commit to continuously improving.
